Should You Use a Screen Protector?

George Mathews July 26, 2022

Relatively inexpensive, screen protectors go a long way in protecting expensive smartphones from cracks and scratches!

Screen protectors are the unsung heroes of smartphones, laptops, and tablets; it’s not often you’ll hear about them even though they’re quite useful.

Screen protectors help prevent scratches, cracks, and breakages on electronic screens that would affect the use of a device, particularly in case your pricey smartphone or other device falls down.

The two main types of screen protectors are made from tempered glass or plastic. Tempered glass protectors are thicker, robust and more durable than plastic screen protectors.

So, should you use a screen protector for your devices?

Modern smartphone screens are quite durable and super innovative these days (such as the robust Gorilla Glass screens), but they can still get scratched and scuffed up. Over time the microscopic scratches on your phone could break the next time you drop the phone on a hard surface.

So, if you’re still wondering whether or not you should invest in a screen protector for your device, the answer is yes. You should probably invest in a screen protector for your device.

In fact, scratching or damaging your screen is easier than you might think. For example, when carrying your phone in your pocket, purse, or backpack with keys or change, the screen can get visible scratches or damage from such hard objects and surfaces.

The main drawback with screen protectors, however, is that they can impact your phone's physical appearance and usability to some extent. But that’s about it.

Reasons to use a screen protector

Here are five more reasons to use screen protectors:

1. Protect your vision

A big reason to consider using a screen protector is that it helps minimize eye strain. Studies have ascertained that the blue light emitted from electronic screens can be harmful to the eyes and can cause headaches, insomnia, and eyestrain.

By installing an anti-glare screen protector on your device, you can block out as much as 95% of this harmful light. This will make it easier for you to work in front of your computer for long periods without feeling exhausted or suffering from eyestrain or eye problems.

2. Reduce glare

Glare is a problem you’ll encounter when looking at your phone display, as light reflects off the phone’s screen much like a mirror, making it hard to see or interact with the options on your phone. It's hard enough to be on your phone all day long without having an issue like this to contend with.

Fortunately, screen protectors can provide much needed glare reduction and UV damage protection. That's why a phone screen protector can be so helpful.

3. Keep screen in good condition

Not only can screen protectors provide glare reduction and UV damage protection, but they can also provide dust and finger mark protection for your phone. That’s on top of providing screen scratches and screen breakage protection and keeping your screen in good condition.

Let's face it, for some of us, protecting our expensive phones is very important to us.

4. Guard against snooping

In today's world, it's more important than ever to be aware and mindful of who is looking over your shoulder at your screen when you’re using your phone or other electronic device.

A screen protector can help prevent people from snooping and being able to see anything on your screen from certain angles, thus providing an extra layer of privacy and data protection.

5. Fight germs

You'll agree that even the cleanest phone screens are not completely free of germs. In fact, they're more likely to be home to over 400 bacteria, according to some studies!

While most bacteria on your phone are harmless, a way to protect yourself from harmful pathogens, mould, and yeast lurking on your phone is by investing in an anti-bacterial screen protector.

An anti-bacterial screen protector offers protection against microbes and also includes an anti-microbial agent to reduce bacterial growth on the surface of the cover itself.

In conclusion

Screen protectors still play an important role in protecting our devices. With the right screen protector, you can protect yourself from harmful germs lurking on your phone and ensure your phone's screen lasts longer by protecting it from physical damage.

Find a reputable dealer near you who sells high-quality screen protectors and enjoy the protection you need when using your phone. Screen protectors are relatively inexpensive products that can go a long way in protecting expensive smartphones from cracks and scratches!
